Nevertheless, it is still possible to set up your own VoIP telephones so that you can make calls without a PC.
Which telephone can I use for Internet telephony?
Usually, either softphones (program on your PC workstation) or VoIP telephones are used for Internet telephony. However, it is also possible to connect classic analog telephones (e.g. for a hotel) to modern VoIP telephone systems via so-called VoIP/analog gateways. This means that every connection where a telephone is required does not necessarily have to be equipped with network cabling.
How do I connect a Voice-over-IP telephone?
A VoIP telephone set is usually connected via an RJ45 network connection. In addition, a VoIP telephone requires a power supply, either via POE (Power over Ethernet) or a local plug-in power supply unit.
