Red Bull
Red Bull?
Red Bull GmbH is an Austrian consumer goods group founded in 1984 by Dietrich Mateschitz and the Yoovidhya family of entrepreneurs. In the years that followed, the company rose to become the global market leader in the energy drink sector. At the end of 2022, Red Bull employed over 15,500 people in 175 countries.
CANCOM Austria emerged from K-Businesscom (formerly Kapsch BusinessCom) at the beginning of 2024. The following case study was written before that and therefore the text was left in the original version.
Business Challenge
As a globally active and well-known company, Red Bull is an attractive target for cyber attacks. Within a holistic security strategy, vulnerability management is an essential tool for analyzing and eliminating vulnerabilities in the network.
Solution
The systems are continuously checked using tools from leading providers in the scanning industry. The results of all vulnerabilities found can serve as a basis for further follow-up (until they are resolved, patched or migrated).
Red Bull is informed immediately if unknown devices are detected in the network.
KBC CDC operates a central scanning and management infrastructure in a specially protected high-security environment for this purpose.
Services
Redbull relies on Vulnerability Management (VULN) as a managed service concept from KBC's Cyber Defense Center.
Value
Red Bull's global network environment is automatically scanned for unknown IT assets and tested for known software IT vulnerabilities (vulnerability scan).
If the vulnerability analysis reveals a security threat, Red Bull is proactively informed of the scan result. The description of the scan results contains recommendations for action.
Future prospects
Long-term expandable solution due to the modular structure of the KBC CDC portfolio.
Future challenges are continuously evaluated with Red Bull and possible extensions/adaptations of the CDC modules are implemented accordingly.
