Who is the
ÖAMTC?

ÖAMTC is the largest mobility club in Austria. The club is the point of contact for its almost 2.3 million members in all matters relating to mobility - both in everyday life and in emergency situations - and promotes the interests of its members. Almost 4,000 employees work for the ÖAMTC.

CANCOM Austria emerged from K-Businesscom (formerly Kapsch BusinessCom) at the beginning of 2024. The following case study was written before that and therefore the text was left in the original version.

Business challenge

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the open-plan workstations of around 200 employees at the ÖAMTC call center had to be moved to home offices in 2020. This required the development of an appropriate infrastructure that meets the highest security standards and can be implemented quickly and easily. The challenge: creating a standardized network architecture with seamless Internet access that enables ÖAMTC employees to carry out their services in a holistic and secure manner.

Solution

KBC developed and implemented a tailor-made state-of-the-art network for all locations in addition to the two data centers and the main headquarters in Vienna. The solution with cloud-based controller in the WLAN network is based on technologies from Aruba, a Hewlett Packard Enterprise company. Within a short space of time, the entire call center team was equipped with secure, uniform and high-performance access to the ÖAMTC network from home. The ÖAMTC now uses around 300 Aruba AP-303Hs throughout Austria, and the number is increasing.

Technology

  • Cloud-based Aruba network controller
  • HPE Aruba AP-303H Remote Access Point

Value

  • Overall concept for simple roll-out
  • Simple implementation of the Aruba solution in the home office
  • Flexibility for the call center
  • Low maintenance effort
  • Modern, future-proof remote solution

The order of the day was and is Plug&Play. For every employee in the home office, the following had to apply: unpack, plug in, get started. That worked out wonderfully.
